(More customer reviews)The 389/390 series of cells differ only in chemistry. Today, combined products are offered to save on model numbers. I believe the 390 is the silver oxide chemistry while the 389 is an alkaline battery with the same dimentions. It, however, will die 10 times faster than the 390.
I verified these cells are silver-oxide - about the longest lasting formulation you can find. They are nominally 1.55 volts as a result but this batch tested 1.62 volts.
The application for the silver oxide chemistry is small circiuts that need to run for a long time with a stable voltage. Silver oxide will maintain 1.55 volts until dead, at 1.0 volts. I purchased these to replace the LOC8TOR Plus Pack brickhouse locator tabs which had been running for 2 years on the factory 390 cells.
Buying in the 10 pack certainly gets the cost down. My local watch shop charges the same for 10 of these for a single cell.
If your device uses the 389 or 390 cell, this will be the longest lasting option for you.
