Nutiva Organic HempShake, Chocolate, Superfood Drink Mix, 16-Ounce Canisters (Pack of 2) Review

Nutiva Organic HempShake, Chocolate, Superfood Drink Mix, 16-Ounce Canisters (Pack of 2)
Average Reviews:

I've tried all kinds of hemp powders and this is my favorite. Hemp is a super source of EFA's and the protein is a highly available type due to the amount of different amino acids. It is good for those with animal milk allergies or who are concerned about cruelty to farm animals. And it is also good for those of us who need to avoid the estrogenic properties of ingesting too many soy products.
Great, so it's healthy, but how does it taste? Well, this hempshake is amazing -- the taste is really great. I particularly like the chocolate. And I'm impressed that although it tastes a 1000 times better than plain hemp powder, it only contains 80 calories and 7 grams of sugar.
As for digestibility, they do add inulin, which is good for the gut, and I don't have any problem with it. However, the high amount of fiber might present a problem for those coming straight from a SAD (standard American diet), so you might want to begin slow with a small drink and work up to the full dose.
In fact, I'm drinking a Nutiva Hempshake smoothie right now for my breakfast. It contains hempmilk (natch), choco hempshake, cayenne, cinnamon, and frozen berries. It is awesome.

Premier Protein - High Protein Ready To Drink Shakes, 18-11oz shakes Review

Premier Protein - High Protein Ready To Drink Shakes, 18-11oz shakes
Average Reviews:

I drink one of these after coming home from the gym. They're filling and quite satisfying and I don't feel the need to eat anything else. They're best ice cold although the instructions say not to freeze them, so I stick a cold one from the fridge in to the freezer for just a few minutes as soon as I get home, and by the time I've changed out of my sweaty work-out clothes, it's really ice cold without actually being frozen.
160 calories - 30 from fat; total fat 3 grams; 5 grams carbs; 1 gram sugar; 3 grams fiber; 30 grams protein; 330 mg sodium; 680 mg potassium; no high fructose corn syrup. However, FYI, this does contain some calcium caseinate just in case you are not in favor of using calcium caseinate as a protein source.
I buy the chocolate flavor which is quite yummy, not artificial tasting and tastes like thick, chocolate milk - especially when ice cold as mentioned above. I've never tried any other flavors except the chocolate.
This price and shipping seem very expensive, but I buy them at one of the membership big-box warehouse type places (that begins with the letter "C") for a much better and more reasonable price.

Average Reviews:

I used to have a SlimFast shake for lunch until a friend recommended that I try Herbalife shakes instead. I wanted to trim a few pounds on a recent vacation to Hawaii so I tried the shake for the first time. This product worked great and I lost 5 pounds in 1 week. The shake itself is highly nutritious and I continue to have a shake for lunch everyday.

GNC AMPLIFIED WHEYBOLIC EXTREME 60 PROTEIN - CHOCOLATE,NET WT 1.22 LB(19.5oz)553g
Average Reviews:

I've been using Amplified Wheybolic for a while now, and although I buy it elsewhere in large containers, the price here on amazon isn't terrible.
As far as protein powders go it's great, look it up online for a complete nutrition profile if you'd like, but everything is there. It's made from whey, so it's very high quality, and you don't have to worry about it giving you gastrointestinal issues. I've tried the Vanilla, Cookies and Creme and the Chocolate, and I recommend the chocolate hands down. The other flavours were decent, but mixed in a tall glass of cold milk the Chocolate is great. I've had no cramps or issues, and I've seen moderate gains in both strength in size since I've started supplementing with this.
As far as the directions, I actually talked to the guy in GNC and he didn't recommend three scoops. He said that two would be plenty, and from my experience and the experience of others two has been great.
Overall, great product. Tastes good, no problems, solid nutrition.

OK, I did something really stupid. I actually bought these. The make up of the tabs is complete and fine, they are just HUUUGE! I take alot of different supplements and have no problem chugging down pills. THESE HURT! That's how big they are. For a brief moment I thought to myself as it lodged itself in my throat "OMG, I'm an idiot and am going to choke to death". I reared back and swallowed hard and it went down a little bit. I ate an sandwich and can still feel this thing at the base of my throat.

BodyTech - Bodytech Shaker Bottle, 1 piece Review

BodyTech - Bodytech Shaker Bottle, 1 piece

I'm a first year college student and had to ditch the blender for a protein shaker. It's been over a month now and it's still working great. My protein powder is never clumpy (ON Whey). I generally shake it for 40-60seconds. Ignore the comments about this leaking - if you make sure the lid is on tight and the caps are closed, it won't leak - trust me on that.
It's a good product for the price. I highly recommend it.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Any Whey Instantized Whey Protein Review

Optimum Nutrition 100% Any Whey Instantized Whey Protein
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the protein for me, I'm sold. It's better than its own advertisements. Yes it really is absolutely tasteless (it does have a very pleasant but mild aroma - kinda reminds me of strawberries, but I only notice it when I first open up the jar), so you can add it to anything with a stronger taste than water and not know the difference. Yes it really is "instantized" unless you start trying to mix it at a thicker than recomended rate. I've taken it staight with nothin but water or milk, in hot and cold chocolate, in cereal, in oatmeal, in my O.J., I've toyed with putting it into my scrambled egss but what would be the point? Anyways, I've thrown together my own little protein drinks a half a dozen different ways already and I haven't scratched the surface. But wait there's more! Optimum makes no claims about this whey's other fantastic properties and I can't for the life of me figure out why.
I emailed them and they responded the same day to say that the stuff is virtually ("90%-98%") lactose free, which is a big relief since I have allot of lactose intollerance in the family.
The stuff is made in the USA. 17 grams of protein per serving, there's 60 servings in a jar. That's 1020 grams of the absolute best protein on earth. Amazon's price: $21 per jar. That's what? two cents per gram of protein/ 35 cents per serving?!? Somebody check my math, I'm not sure if that could possibly be right. Compare that to other protein blends- I need to do more checking but I'd bet that's a comparable $/gram of protein to even the cheapest of the multitudes of new and improved snake oil enriched super fantabulated suplemental mega bloat mixes. Then compare that to your average starbucks bill. Shoot, compare that to what you have to put into vending machines to get what rolls out.
If you aren't sold/bored yet then consider this: Whey proein as compared to all other protein types (egg, standard milk, soy, etc) is the best across the board and should (and usually does) have a cost to match. It is the easiest on your stomach, fastest into your system, and best for muscle tissue gains/ weight maintenance (it's what doctors have used to get HIV and wasted chemo/radiation patients to hold the line and even re-grow). It has immune system enhanceing properties that make it almost medicinal. It has anti cancer properties beyond its immune enchanceing ones, but especially for those who are about to undergo radiation/chemothereapy (I can't explain the mechanisms but it selectively puts the cancer cells frontmost when the treatments are taking place so that they are the first to die and easiest to kill) Carefully and expensively processed Whey proteins (whey protein isolates) should cost even more than the standard concentrates. But Any whey doesn't cost hardly nothin', what gives?
Now... search for a protein supplement, of any kind, that doesn't come with that wonderful and ever palatable "NEW CHOCOLATE BANANA PEPPER FLAVOR!" Or have any fat. Or any carbohydrates (well actually it does have 1 gram per serving). No sugars, no sugar alcohols, no indigestible sugar substitutes, no taste (no, wait, that's a good thing!), and one that can be measured into any recipe of any kind for an endless variety of ways to be used. 60 servings-17 grams per serving-21 dollars.
The stuff's good enough to inspire me to peck away for an hour now to sing it's unsung praises. Now I think I'll go have a high protein bowl o' whey-augmented dreario's so my poor finger muscles have something to regrow with.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, 5 Pounds Review

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, 5 Pounds
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like this product. Let me first start by saying that I do not think this is "the BEST" protein product ever. However, I've tried many protein products and this comes rather close.
In my honest opinion, "the BEST" protein product out there would have to be "Profect" by Protica Research. It's actually the stuff used by gastric bypass patients. It's 25 grams of high-absorb protein in only 2.7 fluid oz that literally tastes like fruit candy. But, it's way too expensive and a two-months supply can set you back a couple of hundred bucks easily. Because of this, it's better suited strictly toward its medical purposes.
This product is also not the "most cost-effective". There are plenty of other whey products out there that are much much cheaper and have just as much protein content, but they all pretty much taste like doo doo. What's the point in torturing yourself to save a few bucks? Cost is definitely an important factor, but not the most important.
Apart from all of the hype and apart from all of the hate, I would say that I really do like this product. It tasted a bit gross with just plain water, but when I added it to a cup of enriched soymilk, I couldn't tell the difference between it and a regular kid's chocolate milk shake. That is amazing. And this product did mix pretty well. I usually have problems with that when it comes to powdered shakes and it's always great when you can get a shake that doesn't just sit on the bottom of the cup and cement while everything else just floats to the top. I even added a serving of Benefiber fiber supplement, and it still didn't clump up.
One problem that I have with this product is that it does use artificial sweeteners, but I'll let that slide for now, since I don't intake too many products with them anyway. Still, it is a cause for concern for those you who want to avoid such things in your diet entirely.
Overall, 4 of of 5 stars. I'm pleased but not impressed. This product is definitely one of the superior brands out there but most definitely not a "gold standard". A lot could be done to improve it.

MHP Take-Off Review

MHP Take-Off
Average Reviews:

I love this product! I found it on Amazon.com because the stores are no longer stocking it. My husband has been using this product for years and loves it. It gives him the right amount of energy and cuts the cravings so he doesn't binge out on junk food. I have a very low tolerance for any product that is high in caffeine because it gives me the jitters and that feeling of being under the influence; not to mention the slam effect when you come down off the "high". When I feel like I need a little pick me up or I want to avoid grabbing too many sweets, I can take just one of the tablets and feel in control the entire day. I never have the jitters or the anxious moments and it works wonders with appetite control. I hope MHP keeps it around forever.

Special K Protein Shakes, Milk Chocolate, 4-Count Bottles (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

While this protien shake is one of the better tasting I've had, it's not a real protien shake. This only has 10grams of protien compared to most shakes that have about 30g and up.
The real "keep away" factor for me is that this shake has 29 g of carbs/ 18 g of this is SUGAR. If you're serious about weight loss, there are much better protien shakes on the market.
Try EAS Whey Protien - It comes in a bag and each serving contains 170 calories/only 3 grams of carbs and 30g of protien. I haven't tried chocolate but vanilla is very tasty, especially with (skim) milk.

Quite simply, this is the most complete fiber product I've ever found. Surprisingly, I didn't find it at the health food store -- but rather a body building supply shop! The product description pretty much tells it all. Probiotics, Soluble and Insoluble fiber (Fibersol 2, oat, pea, & bamboo), and digestive enzymes to help you get more out of your meal. You get about 50 scoops out of each container, so the cost is reasonable compared to buying all those components by themselves.

Nutiva Organic Hemp Protein & Fiber Review

Nutiva Organic Hemp Protein and Fiber
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Have never been a big meat-eater, but cut back even more a few months ago. I began supplementing my diet with more beans/legumes, but was not feeling nutritionally satisfied, and realized I was not getting enough protein. Did a little research, and discovered that hemp was ideal for meeting protein requirements, and according several articles I read, it has many other nutritional and health benefits as well. I purchased the Nutiva hemp protein powder in conjunction with the Better Than Milk "Rice" (to avoid over use of soy). According to directions for both products, I mix 4 tablespoons hemp protein and 2 tablespoons of BTM, in water. It mixes easily in a regular plastic shaker, and I don't even have to use the "de-clumping" attachment that fits inside the shaker. It's just Shake-N-Go! This combination has been the perfect way to start my day. I was concerned about the taste, as some reviews I have read rated the taste of hemp very low. I can't speak for other brands, but the finely ground Nutiva hemp powder has a mild nutty flavor, and I LOVE IT. From what I've read, hemp does not contain oligosaccharides (which commonly causes "gastric distress" with soy proteins), and I have not experienced any bloating with the hemp and rice milk combo. I am happy to start my day with something both nutritious and delicious, and thank goodness I don't have to use the electric blender (one less thing to wash). Also, the Amazon price on the Nutiva Hemp Protein and the Better Than Milk Rice can't be beat, and both qualify for free shipping. FANTASTIC!!!

EAS Myoplex Lite Nutrition Shake Review

EAS Myoplex Lite Nutrition Shake
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just ordered these again, last summer I went for 3 months replacing meals with these shakes along with working out 3x a week, I lost 10 lbs and maintained is easily with these and EAS AdvantEdge Caramel Choc. bars. The Chocolate Cream is the best flavor!! In my opinion, Straw & Vanilla are good too, but Choc is the best. There are some packs out there that offer the Tropical variation-When I was first trying out these shakes I got that one-my opinion, DONT! Ick, theres maybe 1 kind that tastes OK out of them all. Orange Jubilee was OK, Banana Cream Pie and Pina Colada were just way too sweet and weren't as great as the Chocolate flavors. As much as I love Amazon, there are some cheaper prices out there (AllStarHealth)......
Also, if you're looking to lose weight these are the best, however, most guys need a little more protein, so look into the DELUXE or ORIGINAL Myoplex shakes, they have 46g of protein vs these Lite ones (26g). You can always have half the pack if you're really cuttin down, but just FYI since my boyfriend starting drinking them and needed more protein as he started to work out more...he got the Deluxe.
